1- Take time to meditate and relax, practicing deep breathing and relaxation techniques helps you reduce stress. There are apps such as Smiling Minds and Headspace to guide you through daily relaxation sessions. 2- Engage in physical activities, moving around and increasing the heart rate releases endorphins (the body's feel good hormones). 3- Read, escape reality for a while and take your mind off everyday life. 4- Friendships, talk with friends who are willing to listen and support you. 5- Sleep and rest, your body needs the chance to repair itself and capable to perform again the next day. |

1- Encourage and include the person in daily activities. 2- Emphasise to yourself and others that their illness does not define who they are as a person. 3- Support the person in times of need and try to be open to listen. 4- Maintain your own focus on living and enjoying your own life as well as encouraging this for any one suffering a mental illness. 5- Help your loved one find extra assistance such as a health care professional. |
